Born in Sydney Australia, Gary Savins moved to Singapore in 2003 and in 2005 quickly became entranced with diving after doing his open water course on a trip to Thailand. He was so captivated with his first underwater experience that he forgot to breathe and had to be reminded. Since that exciting first experience Gary has plunged into the diving industry with both feet/fins.

After 4 years as a PADI Divemaster in Singapore, Gary began technical diving in 2007 and became a PADI and TDI instructor in early 2009. Gary became a SDI instructor early in 2011.

Early 2010, Gary brought his 21 year corporate career with DHL to a close in order to pursue his love of diving (either that or his bosses got sick of him leaving the office early every Friday to go diving).

Gary Savins has now brought his passion for logistics to diving. Moving people, their gear and organising dive trips, is very similar to his previous endeavours. The faster the pace the better! Gary’s Mum always said even as a kid, “Gary was always in a hurry. In a hurry to be born, in a hurry for everything, he never sat still for more than 5 minutes.” It’s still the same today!

Gary has spent a considerable amount of time diving and exploring the Riau Archipelago, Indonesia.  He has dived all the way from the southern hemisphere to south of Batam.  Along the way he has discovered many amazing new dive sites.

Gary is obsessed with “Lust For Rust”.  Any wreck any day.   He really enjoys diving new wrecks with the thrill of showing people his latest discoveries, or leading divers through a well known wreck.
